On Saturday, 12 April, here is something that I observed while walking around Amsterdam: As I walked by Funny People, I noticed that the word "coffeeshop" is no longer on any of their signage and their green and white coffeeshop window sticker was not on display. Instead, the place is being billed as Funny People Snacks and Drinks and as a "Smoker Friendly" lounge. Now, I am no fan of Funny People but I also hate to see any coffeeshop go away, and apparently this one has.

the guy changed it over the summer because of the new laws the staff in there are really nice ive been in a couple of times since the change the owner is pissed off that he has to sell food now he was wanting to keep it as a coffeeshop,you can smoke weed only joints anywhere and joints with tobacco and cigarettes are allowed in the smokeroom part of it.

might give the place a try now. a real irony seeing as I'd never think of setting foot in the place while it was still a coffee shop with that ridiculous 2g min buy rule they had there. a more relaxed place to enjoy a smoke and a cold or hot beverage while the world hurries by that tiny little road might be just the ticket. a bit of a snack as well? even better. best of all would be 7am opening for smoker friendly brekkie till 3am close, a quick slush out/clean and off they go again.

You know there may be a silver lining to these cs closures with more smoker friendly bar/food places popping up where the cs used to be. a perfect example would be hgf which if turned into a smoker firendly snack/bar would be an ideal place to smoke up a Utopia buy when the shops 2 good tables are taken. best of both worlds, good weed and good trip report after my next visit will/may follow.....

In the interest of accuracy, I double checked the the new sign and the place appears to be billed as "Funny People Drink and Eat" and "Smokers Friendly", when I walked by I could see people sitting inside and rolling up joints so it appears to be doing a fair business.

the staff are really friendly the owner and his son will talk away to you and the big barman is great to get on with,if you like orange juice they will squeeze you 3 fresh oranges for E 3.50 soooo nice
