Puff..Don't forget to only post positive findings because if you post anything negative you will be accused of scare mongering and over hyping the situation..

Hence why I have stopped sharing information in this thread!! :?

successful war on drugs? LOL (hope you were kidding)

i'm american and sad to say... america is hands down the most violent crime ridden country in the world.

hopefully ppl will wake up and vote those clowns outta office and this will all be a bad dream. :-)

when amsterdam is a ghost town and thousands are out of work or have lost their businesses, then the re'tard politicians will realize what a huge mistake they made... unfortunate and would hate to see that happen cuz i've got a bunch of friends who work in the coffeeshops and other places... (crossing fingers things get better)

All we can hope for is better economic times that might see a more reasonable government elected in Holland. Whatever protests might go on the government is elected and coffeeshop owners are self interested small businesses with little or no real power in a much larger situation.

The easy way a new government can ditch this policy is just to say it will cost too much to enforce and they are going to use all the tax money from coffeeshops to pay for drug rehabilitation programs or more police or whatever.

Obviously if this lot stay in office we are probably all fucked.

unfortunately tourism is like 10 bil .. their whole economy is like 900 billion.they dont care about the tourist revenue. the best avenue in my opinion is a solid boycott of everything dutch by the cannabis lovers to show that we can hurt them in the pocketbook.couple that with financial donations that allow the coffeeshops to remain afloat until the political climate changes. all this 420 smokeout stuff and the idea of coffeeshops closing in protest will probably do nothing because you don't make the government or the citizens pay a penalty for closing off pot tourists. go ahead and stand around and sing kumbaya and see where that gets you. they will laugh at us. get motivated and try to bring some pain to their bottom line and you may get their attention. it may not do shit but at least they will feel a little pain. i myself would try to boycott anything dutch until the law changes . if it never does they will not see much of my money ever again. if millions of cannabis lovers were as committed as me it would actually hurt their economy somewhat . If we don't take more aggressive action than sitting around burning doobies on april 20th then we deserve to be fucked over, quite frankly.
If the legal challenges work that would be great. if not we should fight the good fight any way we can

Like a seedpass?

would another Amsterdam spring up? if so where?

Would weed in general suffer?

I'm not meaning to piss anyone off by talking about it. I just find it an interesting dilemma. Other countries worldwide seem to be becoming more and more lenient, where as Nederlands it would seem is tightening the noose.

I'm sorry if my interest and passion is annoying you. If this does continue on about whether or not it will or won't happen, I'm done also.

I sure hope one day all of us can share a joint or some bongs in Voyagers or a coffeeshop in Amsterdam some day.
Spidergawd, I don't know why your still reading it, if it's upset you.

glad to see you are able to have a sense of humor and laugh at yourself, finally. you did have to get one more shot in at spidergawd though didn't you? well i respect the "smash more heads " joke

I was trying to be ironic, obviously not as successfully as I hoped!

It was announced on the BBC yesterday that the Netherland's had slipped back into recession, so their economy is back in shit street. That's the real indicator of how successful the Dutch government is doing, and will be the main factor in getting rid of them in the longer term.

It just depends on how badly they damage the coffeeshop culture in the meantime.

They're fucking everything else up, with a bit of luck they'll fuck up and fail to get their weedpass policy through parliament. They've only got a small majority, so with a bit of luck they won't get the national policy through as easily as they hope.

It is all relative. The economy here is actually quite strong. I am not a fan of this government, but like everywhere, deep cuts are being made and someone has to do it. Its really a shame the VVD (right liberals) have to go after the CS scene as they are supposedly pro-businesses.

If anyone here is wishing that the Dutch economy fail due to some change in CS law (I am not suggestion you are Shaggy) that is fucking stupid/sick. You had better be from a very pristine country (Andorra??) to make sure there is nothing YOUR country is doing that may be deserving of an economy-killing boycott. The convoluted democratic system here (which was once great for reaching compromises) has lead to a special coalition where they are going after coffeeshops. Its a shame, but to place that blame on everyone making a living in the Netherlands (a significant minority of which can't vote) is pretty selfish.

Nol van SchaikAmsterdam 2012 - 420 Style Anti-Weedpass Smoke-out PROTEST!

BREAKING NEWS!!!

I just received an email from the 4 foremost cannabis Lawyers, they are going to start a court case to stop the weedpass from being introduced in the South, May 1. The case is based on the Resident Criteria I mentioned in earlier posts.
The case will be won, and it will stop the weedpass dead in its tracks.
Sadly we all need to remember that this has already been tested in the highest court available, the European Court, in the test case that was brought regarding the proposed introduction of the weedpass in Maastricht back in 2010. Unfortunately, The weedpass was deemed to be lawful by them.

So unless European laws are trumped by Dutch national laws, then if passed, any appeal is likely to fail. The fact this was established by test case doesn't bode well though. :(

Unfortunately, this proposal doesn't sound as if it's just being made up on a whim. By establishing a test case it seems to me that this has been carefully mapped out in advance by this far right leaning neo-nazi Dutch government. Let's be absolutely clear what they are and what they represent.

It can only be hoped that common sense will prevail and the present Dutch government recognises that they'll be committing a form of economic suicide if they continue with their plans, plans which are driven purely by ideological and probably racist motives.

The hope is that this can be stalled in time for for a change of government with a different agenda. Whether this is likely only a Dutch person with a better sense of the political dynamics of Holland will know.

Again, just my penn'orth, for what it''s worth
2 points: First (admittedly i know nothing about EU vs. Dutch law) but there may be a different way to argue this issue.

Second, how in the world is the Dutch law racist? Explain that one to me please?
