Uncle Ron, as for helping the coffeeshops . As understand it they are not closing down the coffeeshops just kicking out the tourists . This change along with registration and limits will ,however, serve the same purpose as most coffeeshops will go bankrupt. Since that coffeeshop license will then be lost a new type business will buy the real estate or rent it out. So as most go bk the footprint of the coffeeshops will be lost forever. If the coffeeshops were subsidized by sources I suggested they would remain in business and more importantly the licenses that are irreplaceable. So the government would then be forced to look at unproductive real estate waiting for the law to possibly swing back as the negative consequences are realized.or the government would have to reveal their true intention of shutting down the coffeeshops for all.you ask if I have proof yet in your next point you admit they will snatch properties at every chance.it seems obvious that they are trying to weed out( no pun intended) the coffeeshops

Hey piedpiperofvice,
The ultimate goal is to close all coffee shops, the weed pass is just a (slower) means to an end.
The proof or resource I was asking about was in ref. to moving shops outside of the city. I thought perhaps you had a source.
There is no subsidizing or locking of real estate or devaluing...
I think in recent years the value of real estate in Amsterdam has been at an all time high, and will continue to climb. \
Look at the selling price of a canal house 10 years ago, less than 500,000. Today, good luck with finding one for under 1mil...
No real estate problems because of shops being closed, just the opposite.
Watch and see how quickly the spaces are taken over where all of the Rokerij shops were located, esp. the one on the corner of Haarlemerstraat.

The end is near for the coffee shop culture as we know it. I don't like it, you don't like it, but it is reality.
One last tid bit..... Some here need to be reminded that they aren't Dutch, it's not their country, and maybe they should turn their focus and energies in changing their own country.
Hmm, there might be something to this...
What is the prevalent reason why the world dislikes America? Capitalistic Expansionism. Stoners are no different.
If a majority of a society doesn't want cannabis, stop trying to force them to accept it.
If a majority of a society wanted cannabis to be legal, it would, all things considered.

I can't wait for 2 Jan 2013. Then maybe some can finally get a life.
Nah, some don't know how to stop whining about (mis)perceived social injustices.
Happy trails...

lol@ this thread.

Why are you all scheming away, trying to boycott et al?

Dont you understand whats happening here?

Why do none of you seem to grasp it, except a few?

Our culture is being dismantled, piece by piece, and they wont stop until it has been completed.

If you want to support this culture, why arent you getting behind Nol van Schaik and joining us on 420 for the protest smoke out?

If you knew how many letters and objections Nol has written, and how much time he invests - on behalf of the entire scene (you will not find 1 Amsterdam Coffeeshop owner who has done this: we now refuse to smoke in Adam), i am sure you wouldnt be wasting your time with a boycott.

Boycotting Royal Shell? im sure they would totally miss their "online stoner target group."

pfffft.

WTF?

You clearly have little idea about what Nol been doing since last year. Do you really think there has been no coordinated efforts to stop this?

Nol and Peter Lunk predicted this back in 2010, when they tried to coffeeshops to send their customers to the polling booths to stop th CDA from getting elected, but noone listened then.

We need your fighting spirit on Friday!!!!!!!!

You need to do your homework and then join us on 420 in Amsterdam for the biggest protest against the discrimination. Stop dreaming and take action now.

Good to hear Nol is still fighting. Like I said before if there was more of a unified response from the industry there would be a better chance of success. Even just a poster in every coffeeshop in Dutch saying if you like coming to coffeeshops do not vote for the party trying to end them.

It is ok to throw around a few ideas on here IMHO. Not all of them will be perfect but we might hit on something useful eventually.

On the subject of letter writing I would think writing to a party in Holland that actually cares and can give weight to the discussion or perhaps publicity to the cause.

For example a prominant and sympathetic broadcaster/journalist could be targeted. All the letters stating how much tourist revenue will be lost from that individual and why of course. That might give some publicity which seems to be lacking outside the coffeeshop scene. If made public the governments position could be weakened in time for the next election.

Another route could involve sending a similar batch of letters to the tourist authority. A different approach but when they start to realise the loss of revenue in tourism from the wietpass there could be some lobbying at higher levels involving related and more established trades. Hotels and restaurants for example.

The benefit of writing to these parties of course is twofold...

1 They actually might care or at the very least think pragmatically enough to see the costs involved.

2 They are highly unlikely to pass your details on to anyone that might use them in a vengeful way.

Finally one more idea - Coffeeshops are a great focal point for the stoner 'community' any action or information about what can be done should be displayed in those establishments. Anyone visiting a coffeeshop could write a letter and leave it with them and then they can be collected up and delivered to whoever is chosen.

These are just some ideas. Good or bad they are all the ammunition we appear to possess at this time.

I agree at 100%: if we follow the "guidelines" of our dutch brothers, if we stay close to them and their fight things could become different.
The more this bond is strong, the more our actions will be incisive.
Sadly I can't be ad the Smoke out due to economical reasons but I spammed it fuckin everywhere for months: hope to had helped.

The above comes from this thread:

So it seems that at some of the coffee shop folk are taking this seriously.
Fingers crossed!

I think I did say something similar on about page 2 but I ain't bothered about that, but no one is interested in doing anything "back home". I joined a campaigning group which is a bunch of tossers because they all want to be annonymous and hide behind a computer because "it's illegal man"...."my job"... Well dont f$%£ing do it then if your life is in that place. So it's split between those, thats me who are prepared to walk up to the man or woman and put the case eye to eye and the warriors who have to stay home right now, man.

Rrrraaannnntt Alert .

Everyones favourite man taking up the cause :| .from the greenhouse news letter

Amsterdam, The Netherlands (April 16, 2012) – Cannabis entrepreneur Arjan Green House takes Dutch state to court on charges of violation of the Dutch constitution.

(Amsterdam) New proposals for anti-drug laws in The Netherlands call for restrictions being placed on who can buy cannabis in infamous Dutch coffee shops. The Dutch government is trying to set up a system that judges people by ethnicity and nationality in violation of the Dutch constitution. Far-right politicians have proposed legislation that would only allow Dutch residents to enter cannabis-selling coffee shops. This legislation would require Dutch residents to register as members of the cannabis-selling coffee shops and would prohibit any foreigners from becoming members. The membership system, also known as the “weed pass”, is not supported by any of the Amsterdam political parties besides the Christian Democratic Party.

Together with a legal team of 4 well-known cannabis-business-branch lawyers, Arjan Green House (a well-known cannabis entrepreneur) has decided to take the Dutch state to court, claiming the new legislation is a violation of the Dutch constitution. According to Arjan “the introduction of the weed-pass, and banning tourists from coffee shops would only be possible through local regulation on the grounds that the visitors of coffee shops create a public disturbance. The legislation as proposed by the Dutch state calls for a national ban on tourists in coffee shops, however if the local municipality is against the legislation it is not possible for the Dutch state to enforce such a ban.” Arjan continues to explain, “Artikel (or) Clause 1 of the Dutch constitution states that all that are in The Netherlands will be treated equally, discriminating based on religion, lifestyle, political views, race, gender on any ground is not allowed. For this reason, the national ban on tourists visiting coffeeshops would violate our constitutional rights here in the Netherlands by discriminating against foreigners.”

Arjan Green House and his legal team are scheduled for a court hearing on the 18th of April 2012 where they will challenge the Dutch state for violating the Dutch constitution.
