Geeking Out- Photo Report April 8-12

Post by geekymonkey »

We decided on a last minute trip because I was so bummed we have obligations keeping us from 4-20, so here I am. April 8, Friday

Voyagers- So close to the train station how can it not be your first stop.

"What's good" I asked the very nice lady budtender.

"Marijuana or Solids?" She asked.

"Marijuana" I said, having to think a minute.

“Light or Strong?”

“Strong” I said without hesitation.

“The OG-18.” She said with authority.

I liked the certainty in her voice.

“Awesome,” I said, “and can I also see the Purple Strawberry Bliss and the Kong Kong?” The King Kong is described as 40% Sativa 60% Indica, which sounded good, and how could I resist smelling the ‘Purple Stinky Bitch’ someone recently memorably dubbed it on here.

She grabbed the lidded jars and flipped them open.

I got all three (2gs of the OG18 because it smelled that amazing. 4 g, 54E) I have to admit that I didn’t look closely at the prices. I make it a habit of not looking at prices when I buy in the centrum- I know I’ll pay top dollar, but that is a vacation splurge. I am more concerned with finding really good bud for that price, and Voyagers certainly delivered top shelf bud. I will be back for more.

Voyagers OG 18
Image
Delicious beyond belief, full of flavor, sticky with resin. Mind erasingly strong, and the upbeat but serious stone builds and builds for a good 45 minutes. Also a cool face and slight body stone. More of a medicinal/herbal kush flavor than stanky, but the flavor lasts. 9.5/10 but only because I’m leaving room for something truly extraordinary. This gets an A.

Voyager’s Purple Strawberry Bliss

Oh my gosh, this smells like Strawberry Sour Patch Kids with a hint of cough syrup. Tastes fantastic. Grinds up into beautiful sparkly dense yummyness that sticks to your fingers like sugar from gummy candy. It makes you want to lick them. Lovely , happy elevating high with a twist of body stone in their to keep things interesting. Ditto for the flavor, which really does taste like strawberry gummy candy with a slightly medicinal sour twist. 9.5/ 10 I will buy more of this (and the OG 18 too.) Have a joint with them mixed together that we’re going to smoke when DrJ wakes up from his nap. He’s just back from a long U.S biz trip and the poor thing is jet-lagged.

Voyager’s Purple Strawberry Bliss- Sparkly!

Voyager’s King Kong
Image
Driest Cure. Good Flavor and smell, lighter than the others. Nice dense clearly indica dominant bud structure. Smokes like an indica wrapped in a teasing wisp of a sativa lift. Then it smashes your head like king king. Fun. 8.5/10 really just because it’s not to my taste exactly- I’m enjoying it a lot, but I will try something else instead of it next time.

Voyager’s King Kong

A note on service- The blond female budtender provided absolutely great service. She picked out the best nuggets in the jar, de-stemmed them, and passed me a marker to label them. I tipped her an extra 1 E, because although I live in Europe and it’s not necessary, I’m an American, and we tip, plus she is awesome. I will be back there this trip.

Voyagers- Love them.

Nice work GM!

Glad you got some top pictures of Voyagers goods. I love this place! Thanks for the brilliant write ups too! I need practise! We renamed the Purple Strawberry Bliss, Purple Stinky Bitch! Sounds like you're having fun! If you can, try out Club Media, they have some nice greenery too!

Look forward to the rest of your stay

Take care and Peace

Our apartment is just west of the Jordan in the Oud-West district of Amsterdam. I picked it for its balcony and great kitchen, and both are completely awesome. The balcony is South-facing, so this time of year it has sunlight all day and overlooks the trees that are just blooming and putting out their first electric green leaves. It’s a quieter residential district, which I completely love. I’ll get some pictures at some point. More importantly, there seem to be a lot of great neighborhood shops.

Eerste Huilp (1e Hulp, First Aide) is right around the corner from me. I headed out there in the afternoon to stock up while my Mr. is napping. They had a ton of hazes on the menu and three indica, and when I asked the lovely brunette budtendress what was good, she indicated that everything was good, but particularly the Amnesia Haze.

Image
1e Hulp’s Amnesia Haze 10E/g

The bud was lovely, as dense a bud structure as I’ve ever seen on Amnesia Haze, with an almost overwhelming rosemary lemon candy perfume. It also sparkled. 2 grams. She gave me a large 1.7 ish gram nug and another small chunk to make a lovely two.

More savory flavor than most amnesia’s I’ve smoked. Tastes like rosemary focaccia on the inhale. (Rosemary, yeast, hint of salt?) Great haze aftertaste. Resinous buds, sound like wet sand hitting the paper. Great balanced haze high. Just so pleasant. I love amnesia haze. 9.5/10. A.

Image
1e Hulp’s Buddha Cheese Haze 10E/g

Herbal aroma that is both savory and sweet. Stongly evocative of blue cheese, port wine, with a haze flower undertone. Slightly drier cure. Equally crystally nug. Fantastic grinder appeal, really fluffs up and smokes nice. Flavor is a nice combination of savory and hebal, really reminds me of blue cheese, but you never forget it’s a haze. Uplifting strong high. Definitely elevating bordering on racy. 9/10 only because it’s not to my taste, it’s a very nice bud. A-

More to come- Angel Dust Haze and Intensive Care

The service here was absolutely top, with the budtendress showing the weed, de-stemming, picking the best nuggets out, and weighing them in front of you. The weed is also a great value. The hazes are all 10E each and as good as any I’ve smoked in town in terms of quality and cure. The 3 indicas are 7.50 and 6.50 a gram.

Today I plan to get to Bij/ Boerenjongen and maybe Hugo de Groot or whatever it’s called (it’s marked on my map) or Paradox. Also coming up this trip will be a proper de Pijp crawl.

Nice one GM. Got 2 of yours on my list now. The purple Strawberry and 1e's Amnesia Haze for my next visit on the 28th. Your creative juices seem to be flowing too as I am enjoying your writing style. Something to do with the cannabis? :?: :D

Seriously it was like supermodel beautiful, and perfectly cured for my taste, which is a little on the sticky/fresh side. Actually everything looks beautiful so far- (Voyagers, 1e Hulp, and Boerenjongen, 11 strains). My mind and mouth are continually being blown.

Also, I bought a little glass hash pipe and a glass bong for the apartment from 1e Hulp. They have a small case with a nicely chosen assortment of pieces and grinders for 10E-15E each, clearly labeled. Love that.

And, hilariously- The bong is really suggestive. It has, uh, very feminine curves...

Also, my life is so awesome right now there are no words.

The Voyagers Purple Strawberry Bliss was our wake and bake joint this morning. It is so unbelievably tasty. It really tastes like sour patch kids sour gummy candies but also unmistakably like weed which I just love. I like my weed to taste like weed.

As the Americans on TV seem to so often say,... "That is one hot piece of (gl)ass".

Petite but with a BIG bumper, just how I like mine!!!!!!!

Getting some Voyagers PSB is now on my itinerary.

1e Hulp Angel Dust Haze

All Eerste Hulp’s Hazes are 10 Euro a gram, except for their Purple Haze outdoor, which was 5 E/g. This one is new according to the budtender, and it had a clean fresh pine scent with a hint of floral haze aroma, but it really sparkled beautifully so we opted for a gram.

Once ground it exploded with fruity haze smell, reminding me of these rosemary pear gin martinis. The flavor didn’t dissapoint either, with a really delightful sour undercurrent on the inhale and full candy haze taste on the exhale. It had an elevating high that was still balanced and not debilitating.

Image
1e Hulp’s Angel Dust Haze

The Angel Dust Haze was w little more powerfully up than the amnesia, but less racy than the Buddha cheese haze (which my brain continuously calls blue cheese haze because that’s what it tasted like to me).
