Sounds good Craig, our apartment is directly across from the GE Coffeeshop so it should be the same building, happy enough. :D

Hi all. Looking for a bit of advice. Booked in one of the apartments for 2 people, I think it's the Chinatown theme apartment (as it seems to be the only 2 person apartment) but can't be sure as I booked it through booking.com and GHE are not answering my emails.

Has anyone stayed in this apartment? Where is it located? Someone on trip advisor mentioned that it is 1 mile from GHE coffeeshop? Is this right?

Anyway, I can still cancel my booking and was thinking about the koopermoolen. Any ideas?

Cheers.

I've stayed in two of the GHE apartments, both in the same building on Lange Niezel. One was the Saloon studio apartment, and the other was the Urban Chill 2 person.

I would not recommend the Saloon - It faces onto Lange Niezel and has a bar directly across the road that blasts properly loud music till about 3AM, then starts right back up at 7AM. I don't mind a little noise, but this was nuts! Asides from this it has a little stove/fridge and a nice little bathroom. There is no built in safe or anything fancy.

The Urban Chill is in the back of the same building - you can see Oude Kirk out the window. It's dead silent - the building blocks all the noise coming form the front. It felt like a nice little hideout from the energy of the RLD when it was time to unwind. Has some cooking accessories, nice bathroom, etc. Downside - wifi didn't reach this room.

Keep in mind what you're paying for, it's not a luxury hotel :P . The beds are simple and not of amazing comfort, the furniture is a bit rickety, etc. Staff are really friendly.

I realise this is a late response but it may still be relevant. I haven't stayed in the shared bathroom room (outer space?) but I have stayed in the red light single room and also the fluo room. Both were fine. Nothing amazing but they were comfortable and relatively clean. The breakfast is continental and average but free food is always a bonus. The breakfast area is a tiny little section at the back of the bar which I wasn't keen on. The red light room has a great little armchair which was a nice bonus (not the plastic chair pictured)

Has anyone stayed in either of the 1 person studios? I booked the red light room again only to spot a deal on the studio for only 9 euros more (not sure which one though, its either 'saloon' or 'bling'). It had to be done. Sod paying over 10 euros for brekkie. I'll be packing some bacon. Lemon's review of the saloon room is putting me off a bit though tbh

Yo guys, Ive stayed here twice, once in the outer space summer 2010 once in the bling bling December 2012.
Outer space- tight room, not much space to move(I'm a bit lardy), shared bathroom(large and spotless), can get very stuffy in the summer, overall if u need somewhere to get away from the madness it's perfect, cleanliness is good aswell, minibar is a good thing. Oh yeah it's not up too many flights of stairs as this is something I would remember as I hate stairs.

Bling bling- literally 30 seconds walk from the gh effect bar. The apartment is a good size room, could easily fit two single beds and still have a decent amount of room, cold in the winter but they provided an extra heater, big windows, very little noise from the crowds outside, large and very clean en suite, power shower, convenience store under apartments is a bonus. There might even be 0.5g of helly dowg from bushdoctors still in the freezer (forgot it was there, put it there to stiffen up during my truffle trip!!!and completely forgot it was there) that's if no one noticed it or cleaned the freezer!?
Both room are good, it all depends wether u like a bit more room and an ensuit, if u do go with the single apartment. I don't know about the salon room as have never stayed init
Always trade fairly!!!

Thanks OffieBoss. Hopefully I get the bling bling room then. I'll head straight to the freezer

I'm gonna email them and request it as your review is much better than those of the saloon. There's a dodgy one on trip advisor aswell

Great help thanks

Good stuff OffieBoss about the Urban Chill digs :)

Booked a 2 person apartment, so could end up in either Urban Chill, Lounge Suite or the Market Apartment..

Anyone stayed in either of the last two?

Stayed in the Market one in 08 and had a great time, its above Hill Street on the Market and AH 1min away which is a good start :D Its right at the top of the building, attic bedroom at the very top with spiral stairs down to one room kitchen/living room and on the sides bathroom and more beds behind curtain. In the living room/kitchen there are two sofas(one really comfy) nice big dining table and chairs. Remember some epic fry ups there. :) Enjoy!

edit: the one i stayed in was called delft but i assume its the same
