Hemp Hotel closing April 1st after much ado.
Hemp Hotel closing April 1st after much ado.
After numerous claims by employees of fraud, deception, and unethical practices by the owner the Hemp Hotel will close it doors forever on April 1st 2013. Mila Jansen of Pollinator Company fame has been fined and ordered to close that business after it was found she had not been paying any of the normal withholdings required by Dutch employers. Maria the only person that ever took pride in the place and kept it clean has been gone for several months now. It's a shame because it used to be a cool place and it was the only real cannabis themed hotel in Amsterdam. I for one will be sad to see it go.
ps, this is not an April fools joke, just a strange coincidence in dates. If you booked there after that date, I would be getting a refund pronto. I would be worried about staying much before as well.

Looked at this place online a few times but it always seemed a bit expensive even for Amsterdam.milehigh wrote:After numerous claims by employees of fraud, deception, and unethical practices by the owner the Hemp Hotel will close it doors forever on April 1st 2013. OMG, thats so sad, even though I'd say it was a bit too expensive, I stayed the last 3 times at the hemp hotel.
Its been such a cool place to chill, and I met awesome people there. really good times when late at night.
smoking ganja with some japenese dudes that speak little to no english. so fun
the rooms were all totally unique and clean. and theres always a good vibe going round.
mila always was very kind to everybody and even offered us a piece of hash. that shit was potent
such a shame to hear that they have to close under these circumstances...
but the real man that kept this place alive and clean was BANTA.
he took care of every little thing you needed and is due to my visits now a real good friend of mine. (and he makes the best choco breakfest muffins)
I'm really shocked about this news. good bye super stoned cat that jumps up the bar, good bye Hemp Hotel.
roll that shit, like that shit, smoke it!

everybody calm down about the refund. I got some inside news!
as soon I heard this news I instantly emailed my man banta whos workin at the Hemp Hotel 24/7!
he told me that the Hemp Hotel WILL NOT BE CLOSING till at least October 2013.
so everybody that booked before October, chill out, your stay at the hemp is guaranteed to be fun!
everybody that booked from october just write a mail to the hotel if you have any concerns.
stay lifted people.

Re: Hemp Hotel closing April 1st after much ado.
I am gutted as I always stay there
I have been 5 times to the HH and found the place quite reasonably priced. The chilled vibe was fab and loved the cat.
All the staff were brilliant and will miss them all very much.

The close date has been moved back to April 13th. That is the end of the extension and does not look like another will be issued. The owner has put the Hotel on notice officially.

She is not the owner of the building. Only leased it from some very sketchy people. I would contact a real estate agent in the Netherlands and give them the address. She can't help.dodoking420 wrote:milehigh wrote:The close date has been moved back to April 13th. That is the end of the extension and does not look like another will be issued. Milehigh:
You are not only a nasty little person, but your posts are inaccurate.
The closing has indeed been postponed to October, not April, as you so inaccurately reported. So folks with reservations between April and October, don't sweat it.
The place is, indeed, a special one, and one of Amsterdam's best late night hangouts.
This business of "numerous claims by employees of fraud, deception, and unethical practices" is also a one-sided, stupid claim. I know many of the current and former employees, and I think I know who is the loudest complainer: I happen to like this former employee, and if this person is indeed a victim of these unethical"practices,"I find it interesting that she continues her relationship with Mila, and has even done some work for her! So much for fraud and deception.
I've been hanging out at this place during numerous and sometimes lengthy stays in Amsterdam over the last 8 years or so. I've grown quite fond of the family that runs the place and I've seen them help out many a traveler and local over the years. I'm very sad it is closing. The reason: The landlord does not want to renew the lease. Probably because he/she can get more rent money for it. It's also a quiet, residential area, and many neighbors have complained about the very occasional noise, etc. coming from some of the less courteous patrons.
You clearly have some kind of ax to grind with the owners of this place, which is fine, but you should be honest about that when you spread false rumors and post half-truths on this forum.
If you don't like the place or it's management, stay away. tell your friends to stay away. But don't bother people on this site with nonsense.
