I'm heading out in a couple days to Ams and was going to stay in an Apt but had a change of heart.
I've been looking at these hotels with a central location. So far I've narrowed it down to the Renaissance, Amrath, and Krasnopolsky..
Any suggestions? Are there any 4/5 star hotels that allow smoking?
Thanks much appreciated

I love the NH Barbizon. I stayed in a few other 4 stars and that is by far my favorite. Really comfortable beds, spacey rooms, and near voyagers and alot of other shops.

well, technically it's not free. It just doesn't appear as a separate line item when you check outmatty223 wrote:Free mini bar stock

Double Tree Hilton has executive queen rooms with a balcony that are very smoker friendly

Of the 3 places I'd say the Renaissance has the best location overall. Nice place. Non smoking when I stayed there last. However the immediate area is fine for plonking yourself on a bench and smoking it up. Lots going on and fun to watch it all go by without being the show.Lukewonderr wrote:I'm heading out in a couple days to Ams and was going to stay in an Apt but had a change of heart.

The Kras I didn't like the staff/service. Location is not fantastic for decent coffee shops either. I smoked it up in here no problem but that was a few years back in one of those back rooms they have there that are the wierd shape. Found the staff there to be sniffy and remote unless there was a way to charge more euros in which case it was back to the sickly sweet formal dutch smiles. Internet was a rip off here too when I stayed. Might be better for that now.
Amrath. My fave place in the dam. Might splurge on the Doubletree with a balcony one day which might compete but in the winter there is no place better than the amrath. Staff are a delight. Place is amazing both inside and out if you are into the art history kind of thing at all. It is an old shipping office building that has been lovingly converted into a 5 star hotel. Most expensive brekkie in the dam. Good though. I smoked it up in my room. The staff left me ash trays fresh every day. Not a great place to smoke outside anyway. No where that nice until you get to Voyagers really.
