24 hour trip report...

Post by onelovemarley »

Visited the city of Amsterdam with some buddies on November 14th. It was the first time for all of us (americans) and we really enjoyed the city/atmosphere..
If I could do it over I would have found a different area to stay in. We were pretty much in the heart of red light district. I read about the district plenty before but you cannot fully understand until you witness it for yourself. Was a great apartment and they company
http://www.amsterdamescape.com has about 9 apartments in the city and I would highly reccomend them to anyone.

Here's the list: (only 24 hours)
Amnesia- 1 gram of g-13
1 gram of purps
1 gram of tooty fruity
Barneys- 1 gram of NYC desiel
1 gram of burmise haze
1 gram of sweet tooth
1 gram of carmello? (sp)..a light hash
1 gram of some other haze
I like how they put the name on the bag
The Doors- 1.5 grams of white widow
Dreadrock- 1 gram of blondie
Grey Area- 1 gram of AK-47
2 grams of the grey mist crystals

It was a Tuesday in November so as you could probably expect the chops were quite empty. Nice because I always read on here how busy they always are.
We were unsure what was really safe to do after 10pm and a couple people really wanted to try mushrooms. We all got hawaiians from conscious dreams and all had a nice mild trip in our apartments.
When we were past the peak of the trip we walked to go for a late night stroll. Just didn't feel right to stay in the apartment for too long on such a short trip. It was a fun/crazy walk to say the least. There was not one normal person on the street at 1am. By not normal I mean on some crazy drug or a old businessman lookin for a hooker. During the day there were police all over the place but at that time we didnt see one. We found that to be kind of odd.
Enjoyed every shop, everyone was very friendly and eager to give their advise. On the short list of coffee shops i would have to say Grey Area was probably my favorite..very small but we had the place to ourselves! This is all I have for now I am sure I will add somethings soon.
Excited to go back, but would not stay in the red light district again.
one love

Nice. When did you get in to Amsterdam and what time did you leave?

forgot to add the jack herer and mothers finest from floyds.

The bud that was the strongest was the jack herer from pink floyds (maybe why i forgot it)

I thought the best tasting was the sweet tooth from barneys.

I know people have talked about the "new barneys"..but i didnt see it mentioned that it is only a coffee shop that serves food, if you want bud you travel two doors down to the old barneys..

was hoping to try a few more hazes..only two on the trip but the burmise was better than expected.

sound like you had a blast man!

was it everything you expected?

I think the Barneys you are referring to as the "new" one isn't really the newest one. Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the "NEW" barneys is a bit of a distance away from the original barneys and the "breakfast bar" barneys.
I sorta had the same experience on my trip, we were walking up to it and my girlfriend is like there it is, there it is! and i'm telling her NO that's not it i've seen pics of the place and that is not it. She just looked at me like i was crazy and just said follow me ...couple doors later ahhh haaa i was right 8)

Thats a fair bit of smoking for just a 24hr trip, sounds like a great time was had. The line about businessmen out in the RLD early hours made me laugh because it's so true.

A couple of questions though

-Did you make it to The Coin at all?
-What did you make of the RLD? (if you were not staying in that area)
-What was Draedrock like?
-When are you going next???

Glad you had a good trip.

If our apartment wasn't in the RLD, I would have enjoyed the district more. It is truely something everyone should see while visiting amsterdam because words just don't do justice!
With it being such a short trip it seemed we were walking with our luggage always looking over our shoulder. Or flyin high, kinda lost, walking through the chaos. Should have figured right at the end of the trip we were able to get our sense of direction and be able to get around the city without getting lost.
Was planning on stopping at the coin first because it is close to our hotel BUT we quickly found ourselves to be off track, so we stopped into Dreadrock instead.
The budtender and the couple in there were nice, both offered their opinion on which bud to choose. We went with the blondie and enjoyed our first hiene in holland. Wasn't my favorite shop but a very enjoyable first coffee shop experience to say the least..

Had a great trip. Left Newark NJ @ 7:00pm on Thursday and got home Monday at 4:00. Great flight. I stayed at The NH Barbizon Hotel just above the red light district and across from GCS. Great location. Spent time at Hunter's coffee shop. Really cool place w/ great atmosphere. They have four internet stations that worked well. Also serve beer etc. I smoked alot of NYC Crystal lady. I was getting so stoned on the weed I didn't even smoke any hash. I regret this now. I just checked flights for Feb. and Continental is 320.00 round trip. I am booked.

Late, Mike
