At my second visit to Amsterdam me and my friend made the mistake to visit this bar. The first look u get is ok. Nice bar. We stood at a table and ordered coffee. We had a few joints and then we ordered a drink. Time was passing on and, after a few drinks, we started ordering our first shots when a bold gorilla came to tell us that we should leave the bar because "we were not buying enough drinks" to stay. I don't know if that sounds ok to u but for me it doesn't. I've been to many other coffeeshops in Amsterdam, where people were treating u as a customer and respected u for buying only one coffee! I am not going to Stones Cafe again and I suggest u not to go unless u intend to spend a lot of money in there, so that the gorilla is happy!

A regular haunt for us where you can smoke, drink nice beer and play pool. The staff are always friendly and the Stones Coffeeshop on the corner offers a nice weed menu.

A great English style smoker friendly pub. It was nice to sit back and enjoy a cheap pint of lager costing only 3.50 euros where elsewhere I was paying between 6 - 9 euros a pint. Nice to see the football on a large screen as well. Another bonus was the tasty looking barmaid who seemed very friendly. Didn't sell any weed here but the staff were more than helpful in explaining we could go to their coffee shop only a few yards away and bring our smoke back.

My girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere that I could smoke and we could both drink alcohol. Our search bought us to Stone's Café on the edge of the red light district of Amsterdam. Our initial impression was good, with a relaxed atmosphere, over 21s only (no kids!) and a good selection of drinks. After buying a round and relaxing for a few minutes I decided to visit the dealer and see what was on offer only to be told that you cannot buy weed on the premises, this was only a minor set back though as one of the staff informed me that they were going 'up the road' to their shop that sells weed but not alcohol and would bring me back whatever I wanted. Being English and inexperienced at smoking Dutch weed I asked for just one weed joint having told the chap my reasoning (didn't want to fall off my chair or end up seeing things again). I was surprised when he came back with the joint and refused payment, by this time I was really falling for Stone's! So I asked to borrow a light only to be given a Stone's Café lighter, also for free. Bonus! I took the advice of my new friend and enjoyed the spliff over a period of about two hours while watching the world go by and found it to be very smooth with a pleasant mellow high. Sadly this was our last night in Amsterdam though I will definitely go back to Stone's, loads better than Grasshopper(s)!

I hate to say it but the place isn't that great. Walked in just to check it out, ended up buying some Orange Bud which looked and smelled great but didn't get me high or stoned much.

Friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. A good English feel. Easy to find - right in the heart of the red light district. It was quiet when we went in there and the second visit there were more people in there. My husband and I felt relaxed in there. We would definitely go back there.

As an Englishman it's how you'd like your local pub to be - there's a pool table, they show the footie and you can enjoy a spliff of your favourite tipple with a glass of your favourite tipple - perfick! Sat in here for an entire Sunday afternoon with 7 of my mates, watching the footie and having a great time. Highly recommended if you want to drink and smoke in a lively atmosphere.

Spent a wonderful night there on a quiet Wednesday night around the area u can smoke in there and the staff and one or two of the regular customers are wonderful. Buy a pre- rolled, light up, have a drink and enjoy, I did. The barmaid was most friendliest of all I met.

Our 1st impressions on walking into this place was "let's not stay too long", but we were so wrong about this place. Female staff behind the bar was very polite and friendly. Even though this place does not have a license to sell weed they are more than happy for you to smoke your own gear in there as long as you purchase a drink, lots of seating, long bar serving beer, pool table in entrance and popular with Brits. Would definitely return on our next visit

Last year, after an early morning flight, an afternoon boozing and no food (here's a salutary lesson for us all) I took a whitey in Stone's Cafe upon lighting up my first spliff of the day.
I'm a twenty stone fat bastard with a shaved head and look like something recently released from the Scrubs (that's prison to the rest of you).
The staff were great. They picked me up (no mean feat) got me outside into the fresh air and handed me a glass of hot sweet tea. In 30 secs I'd revived (very embarrassed).
No hassle, no barred from the cafe, no reproaching looks at the idiot tourist.
Can't praise their professionalism enough.
Nice people looking after an oaf who should have known better.

Wow wow wow. This place is amazingly chilled, funky, has fab music that makes you feel all warm & fuzzy. Decor is superb, seating is ultra comfy. Drinks are lush & the gear is wicked.
We brought some Orange Bud as it was our last day & so we were smoking what was left & decided to add some orange bud to our day. Oh my god. Hours & hours later I landed in London, got home, had a shower & was still stoned!
I cannot sing enough praises for this place.
As a group of short Asian girls we usually get the "oh here we go again & what the?!" looks when we walk in somewhere as people often assume that we're giggling teenagers (though we're late 20's & have been going to The Dam every year as a ritual for a while). We had been into a few places & got quite a shitty attitude from the people & staff.
3 of us girlies went in here & the staff here (especially the pretty lady with big hoop earrings) came over & joined us, taught us a few swear words that she thought we should know, brought our hot chocolates over, gave us biscuits, extra cushions & made us feel so so at home. 3 hours later we were still sitting there & just didn't want to move anywhere else.
I swear if it hadn't been for the fact that we had a flight to catch home, we'd still be sitting there.
People in here joined in our conversations & jokes, everyone in this place had grins on their faces as standard.
The lady here & Stones gave us the best coffee shop experience ever. It was our last day & as we happily got through our last tokies. Stones just topped off a perfect break in Amsterdam.

Hung here mostly for the air conditioning (only place around w/ it) and cold
bier on hot, muggy, afternoons. They did let us smoke our own stash though,
and that was nice as they only sold two grams or more at a time, guess they
have recently lost their weed licence though? They have big screens w/
football and rugby prevailing, and they play rock or trance music. Nice bar,
good bier and alcohol selection, friendly wait staff, free papers and tips
on the counter. It is styled like a British pub, lots of wood inside,
central bar and nice window seats, darts in the back, clean bathrooms.
Fairly large place compared to others, relaxing and cool on those long,
humid afternoons. (2-1/2 stars)

What a great atmosphere, great looking bar staff too! It's a shame they don't currently have a license to sell weed, but this did remove the guilt about rolling your own in there. We came here primarily to catch up with the football scores but ended up staying about 4 hours. The tall bald guy was hilarious and really added to a already great vibe. It was easily big enough to accommodate all 8 of our party.... when we eventually got it together to meet up. They sold bottled beers too which made a nice change from all the draught around.

This place rocks unfortunately they have lost their licence to deal (the manager is confident they'll get it back soon) but you can still smoke there whilst enjoying a beer and letching over the bar maids.

Some of the sexiest and friendliest barmaids in Amsterdam. I have only bought white widow here which was very good and very mellow. One word of caution they quote prices in grammes but minimum sale is 11/2gm.
The place is a great hangout serve nice beer and play mellow tunes and stay open late the toilets are clean and free which is always useful to know.
