A quest for Amsterdam's diamonds - 20-23 Feb11 Smoke Report

Post by pengaldinho »

Firstly I uploaded all the pics when high and forgot to resize. Sorry! So i made the text a bit bigger so people on small screens view at 75% and still read it. Back on topic - trip 11 for me. 5 and 6 for my mates. 3 nights for 2 of us and the other one 2. As the title says on a quest to hunt down and smoke the good stuff. Been busy with work and watching football since I got back. I would like to write more but haven’t got round to it.prices may be bit off. Here's the start:

Day 1:

Flew over on easyjet and walked out of the station at about 11. Straight to GP.

Greenplace:
1g OG Kush E14 – HUGE let down. It was nothing on the batch in Feb and just before coming out I'd sampled a bit from a mate who quick dry/cured and it shat all over this. This was old and off smelling. 3/10
Image
1g Lemon OG E14 – pungent sweet smell in the tub. Nice complex taste but a short lived high.6.5/10
Image
1g Purple Kush E14 – dashes of purple across the buds, light purple/floral/musk smell and taste. Harsh smoke, sleepy high – no where near what it could be. 6/10.
Image
Image
1g LA Cheese – Meaty cheesey smell, transferred to taste very well. Scrumcious! 8/10
Image
Image
1g Green Crack E13 – Super harsh on the throat and crazy nose burn. It was strong though. I didn’t like but only had a few tokes. 5/10
Image
1g Amnesia Gold E12 – Standard dam Amnesia cutting, didn’t notice the blueberry. 7/10
Image
others: only one haze on the menu – blueberry haze. Candy kush was end of batch. I don’t really like the back room as much any more, its too dark and you get sleepy, I prefer the window seat. They need to get more consistent with their batches, especially as the majority of strains are E13+.

Dampkring 2:
1g Malika E15 - dark outer layer and glistening gold inside, bubbles at a tiny lick of a lighter. It looked amazing but the smoke wasn't as good as other Riffmans I've sampled before. (exactly the same thing happened in sept- https://www.coffeeshopdirect.com/forum/viewt ... 10&t=14832 ) Taste was strong and heavy hashy but nothing unique. 7.5/10
Image
Image
1g Aisha E11 – light hard pollen. That about says it all. 6/10
Image
.5g Shoreline E7 – Menu described as 'smell:purple haze & diesel. Taste:Grapefruits.' It was fruity and floral with a subdued background flavour of mellow citrus. Wish I got more now. 8.5/10
Image
Image
.5g SSH E6 – nice sandalwoody and hazy. Nice pick up high after smoking indicas at GP. 8/10 at the time. Bij's sample turns it into a 7.
Image
.5g Amnesia G13 E6 – hashy smell. Slightly generic skunk tone in there, light amnesia taste comes through. 5/10
Image
1g Pot of Gold E11 – Parmesan/herb smell, nice stone, light herby almost rosemary taste. 7/10
Image

Others; opposite menu to green place- lots of haze on menu – NLxHaze, Mexican, Neville's etc.

Burger Bar for Kobe. YUM YUM YUM.
Image
Back to hotel Abba to check in and chill for a bit.

Voyagers
1g King Kong E14 - Strong. Didn’t like flav which was very different to the nice smell in tub. But it got me HIGH.6/10
Image
1g Purple Strawberry Bliss E13.50 – smelt like sweet berry/coconut sweets or tasty puff. Ash was fairly black and the flav struggled to come through. Disappointing. 4/10
Image
Image
Image
Image
1g ECSD E13 . Poor. No diesel taste what so ever, just weird perfumey flavour. We gave it two a lonely soul in the Buddah room at Kashmir Lounge who was looking on longingly as we chonged through our stash. 4/10
Image
1g Ultra Lemon Bio Haze E12 – smells amazing but the taste doesn’t fully manifest to smoke. 6.5/10
Image
Others: Ppxbb – generic smell, agree about the living room comment. Nice touch with the glass jars. Will be back to try the menu again.

Suzies Saloon – horrible watered down flat happy hour pint and some king kong to watch 2nd half of Arsenal v Orient.
Image

Rembranplien
Image

Barneys Lounge
1g Dr Grinspoon E17 – Light floral honey taste, not as buttery and concentrated as before. Nice instant light uppy high. Its like an all natural organic amnesia haze. Too expensive but nice. 7.5/10
Image
.5g Tangerine Dream E7 – to me it was a nice sample of amnesia haze. Yummy. 7.5/10
Image
Image
Hot chocolate
Image
others: Neville's A5 haze smelt like generic commercial santa maria.

Back to the hotel for smokes, south park and sleep.

Day 1 total:16g

I knew it rang a bell when I saw it on the menu but I mainly bought it because of the description. When I got home I had a look and found it in Cannabible 3 and it says its well known in Texas and comes from a seed found in a sack of herb bought at a Grateful Dead concert (sound familiar? COUGH COUGH! sour diesel) in Cali in the late 80's early 90's. Jason King says 'pronounced skunky and hashy flavour, with undertones of choclate and lemons' I wouldnt say my sample was quite that but it was dam good!

Smashing report! I'm slightly disappointed the Purple Strawberry Bliss wasn't up to snuff because that's a strain on my list of gear to get. Hopefully when June rolls around they may have a different batch. Can't wait for the rest of the report :) Toke on!

Some things didn’t live up to my expectations but I’m just a bit of a picky bastard. I still had a great time, sometimes its like looking for a needle in a hay stack, but sometimes that’s part of the fun going from shop to shop looking for the A+ stuff. Day 2 up soon.

Day 2

Walk through the park to start the day.
Image

Boerejongens
3g White Choco E7.50 – fruity fresh stink that out stank the 10+ other strains in my bag. Every time id get a wiff it would be of the white choco. Agree with it DRR (cheers for the heads up) when he said ' Its up there as 1 of the tastiest buds around Dam, but would benefit from a cure to get a proper stone.' Mouth watering complex flavour but not a long lived high. LOVLEY! 9/10
Image
Image
1g Love Potion E8 – doesn’t look as good as the WC but it is. Full on NYC diesel smell. Powerful moreish tart ruby grapefruit nectar fuel flavour. Again not the strongest high(just a nice stavia buzz) but I would have smoked this just for the taste, I found myself swallowing my spit because it tasted so good! YUM FUCKING YUM! 9/10
Image
Image
(no 9.5/10/10/10 for the two above as the highs were nice but the lengths weren't great. Still great smokes)

1g SSG13H E12 – Nice pine taste but was dwarfed by the SSH & SLH. 8/10
Image
Image
2g SSH E9.50 similar to Dampkrings, but more a more floaty buzz, had more tickle and a full on sandalwood fruit tang. Looks great, reeks of hazey tastyness which translates almost entirely. Put me in a proper haze. 9.5/10
Image
Best service I got in town. Friendly and showed me pretty much the whole menu.

Stencil on the short walk between shops:
Image

Bij
1g BBC x Ape E8.50 – Easily the best cheese. Candyfloss antiseptic cheesey goodness. Nice heavy eyed buzz. (thanks for the tip Gapie) 9./10
Image
Image
1g SSH E9.50 – see Boerejongens SSH above
Image
1g G13 Amnesia E10 – Nice strong amnesia high and taste with a bit of gravity pulling you down. Miles better than Dampkring2s offering. Great smoke. 8.5/10
Image
1g Amnesia x Nebular E10 – looks old, sad, grown in the heat. 3/10
Image
1 Super Lemon Haze E9.50 – pine/lemon fresh smell & the taste translated more than voyagers version did. I preferred the SHH from here but only just. 8.5/10
Image
also: Heavens Haze – dealer said it had a 1yr cure but it had a minimal smell. MMG was dust as was the Amnesia. Again the best service I got in any cs.

Kashmir Lounge
Image

Grey Area

Before I start with the buds from here I want to point out that I had just smoked a load of strains from Bij/Boerejongens that were amazing. When I smoked GA's buds they were nice but no way worth the money in comparison. None of them made my taste buds do the conga line nor knock my socks off. Maybe if I started my day here I would have different thoughts. All about 7/10-7.5/10

1g Recon E13 – don’t remember too much. Not eventful.
Image
Image
1g X18 E14.50 – herbal smell, got me coughing before bed but put my lights out nicely, but too expensive.
Image
Image
1g C13 Haze E13 – Mild haze smell with strange undertones. Ok but should have been about E9.
Image
Image
1g Silver Bubble E12.50 – Sweet haze smell, slightly like amnesia. Smoke was a bit harsh on the throat, nice enough but noting special again.
Image
Image
Image
1g Chcolope E12- light fruity tropical chocolope smell, smoked nicely, tasted good. Just not super good.
Image
Image
1g ECSD E15 – Didn’t smell great in the tub but its my mates all time favourite strain. it was nice, smooth and pleasant. I couldn’t not detect any SD flav. Id take 2g or almost 2 g of WC or LP over this any day.
Image
1g KC Jones E13 – Probably the best thing GA had. Looks great, tasted nice but nothing unique.
Image
Image
1g BBC E12 – nice sample of typical dam cheese.
Image
others; kuchi was only small wispy buds, nothing like Septembers batch.

Amnesia for hot chocolates and to test GA wears.
Image

Burger Bar Angus – its no kobe but still very good.
Image

Dampkring 2
1g cheese E10 – dusty but nice -no pic. 7/10
Others: I really liked their 3 flavours of Rootz fruit juice, its a bit like Rubicon which is everywhere in London, more shops need to stock it instead of stupid looza.

Coin
1g Amnesia Haze E13.50 5/10 – not a very good sample. High didn’t do much for me.
Image
poor service.

HSB
Chilled for a spliff. I got mango milkshake – tasted like watered down melted butter YUCK! My mate the fresh fruit drink where you choose 2 fruits and 1 fruit juice. Much better.

HGF
Hot blonde budtenderess showed us the menu. My mate wanted the half g of SP and tried to get me to get another 1/2g, it all smelt poor to me until she opened the NYC and I was hit in the face by a wall of diesel smell. SOLD. It was funny as she said it might be too strong for us. Little did she know....
.5g Silver Pearl E6 – only swapped spliffs for a bit and this lacked a lot in comparison. My mate liked it.- no pic 5/10
.5g NYCD E7 – The flavour was a lot more one dimensional than the Love Potion (still very very nice) with a stronger uppy high, no pic. 8.5/10

Greenplace:
1g Twizzla E13 – Similar to the Malaki a bit but with a more layers of floral flavours. 8/10
Image
Image
Image
.5g Lemon Larry E7 - I enjoyed the spliff of this, had a hint of lemon in there, but was nothing on Bij's SLH.7/10
Image

Dolphins – Hot Chocolates and smokes then back to hotel.

Day2 total: 24.5g
