Re: Nes Cafe
It's a real shame. Who'd have thought that when Nes dropped its coffeeshop licence to be a smoker-friendly bar, that they'd eventually find themselves forced to the wall by tobacco inspectors?

Re: Nes Cafe
They have had a couple of tables and at least six chairs outside this Summer. And since you have to smoke outside we were constantly spilling out into the street.ftcarer wrote:Ok , a fine for allowing/having peopled smoking baccy inside I get but , fined for having a few seats outsideelasticband wrote: I asked the bar man if it was still allowed to roll and smoke, he replied telling me they had sadly received another fine for smoking, so it's not even a case of being sly with your tobacco, he told me if i wanted to roll a joint it had to be pure and he would have to stand and witness me roll.
Sadly this killed my buzz for the place, so i didn't bother rolling a joint, it seemed like a hassle for the staff. I did chat to the barman about the situation and i really do feel for them, it is almost as if they are being directly targeted as this is the second fine for smoking and they also got a fine for having a few seats outside the bar.WTF
, it's not like they take up any pavement space

Maybe, but I still think it was because of the fraternity girls that live upstairs. They had hundreds of pledges come by over the last week. And to top it off they would block the entire street singing and drinking Red Bull, annoying cunts.ftcarer wrote:ah , all your fault then Balou

Re: Nes Cafe
I remember him posting, that if Nes didn't get a redo he was leaving, I wonder. When we were there last April you couldn't even get to the door for the crowds out front.

In fact remodeling was done maybe two years ago. It's nothing spectacular but it did help. No idea where DC is, but I'm sure he will chime in at some point.Epsilon wrote:Dave gone ?!!? ... oh my .

Saw him earlier in the week and he bought me a beer. Didn't realise he was on the move already.

Re: Nes Cafe
Agreed. A forum 'Cool places to smoke' would open out the topic to the correct margins IMHO. Why stop at smoke friendly bars? Can include night clubs and any other place we can think of.geoffk wrote:After some thought, I think having a separate review section for smoke friendly bars might be a good thing. It'd be more current than the sticky and not be so confusing to new forum viewers and those whose first language is not English.

Re: Nes Cafe
Best wishes to DC. First class service given to all ACDers by Dave & all the staff at T'Nes for many years. Thanks again.

Re: Nes Cafe
Near where I live is a wonderful arboretum (Westonbirt). Whenever I go there I have Big Yellow Taxi running around in my head - They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum. They charge more than a dollar and a half these days but the song still works for me. Now another line is stuck in my (admittedly wasted) head.
