Re: Latest coffeeshop changes
A joke surely. Tourists only? Why? How would that work?

Re: Latest coffeeshop changes
On my last visit there, I noticed the sign in front of the door, but I didn't read it carefully and understood it to mean that only locals were allowed to sit there. I could have understood that somehow, but only tourists allowed doesn't make sense
The only reason I can think of is that the shop was very popular with the boys from the street. When I was there, there were often groups of Dutch youngsters who didn't exactly seem like law-abiding citizens to me

Just heard, SWED (ex. Funky Munkey) has changed name again to Tha Dogg House. That name didn't last long!

I have to say, every time I see this topic bump up to the top of the board I brace myself for the Plug taking over another shop...

Amsterdam Genetics have taken over
Superskunk 1 (formerly Atlantis) in the Pijp and renamed it ProGram.

It can't be just me that is starting to really dislike this chain?! Didn't mind so much when it just seemed like Boerjongens were trying something different, but they're spreading faster than any CS chain, ever... Don't get me wrong; I think there's a place for clinical, soulless B&F shops, but when there are several, almost identical, Amsterdam Generics in one city centre, taking over traditional shops it feels like it's harming the scene a little...Lemming wrote: Thu 3rd Jul 2025 02:31 pm Amsterdam Genetics have taken over

...If they'd just have different carpets, like Wetherspoons!

Agreed. Sitting in a coffeeshop is what makes Amsterdam special for me.KeyMonCha wrote: Thu 3rd Jul 2025 05:37 pmIt can't be just me that is starting to really dislike this chain?! Yep. My personal preference is "Old School" shops like Siberie or Tertulia. The clinical, lab coat dispensary style may have been a novelty the first time i visited boerejongens but now it's feels kinda soul-less. I don't want A'dam to become homogenized, variety is the sapcecake of life

Re: Latest coffeeshop changes
Exactly... Everyone, i assume, can get decent gear at home nowadays... The weed is not the lure, but the coffeeshops themselves are... Where else can i go out for a meal, go see a show, sit on a terrace in de zon, and have a spliff and a coffee without feeling like a criminal, or a nuisance?
I feel some owners are really missing the point entirely...
...then again, i haven't seen their bank statements.
