Re: The Annual Four-Twenty Gathering - 20th April 2025
So, 7 of us in town on 17th. After a coffeeshop or 3, we'll likely be wanting a bar where we can consume our purchases with a beer.
Assuming that the situation remains of Batavia and places on Warmoesstraat being out of action and elsewhere being OK, we should probably choose one or more places to audition for the role of new base. No better time to start than the evening of Thursday 17th.
Several people have recommended Cafe Havelaar. I've never been there but it sounds good and it's very close to Dampkring. We've had a couple of good nights in Hunters near Rembrandtplein in the past. Over the other side, CoffeeshopAmsterdam Café is close to several coffeeshops, including Siberië.
Many more possibilities too I'm sure. What do you think?

We are staying equal distance between Hashtag and Terps Army 2, on Prinsengracht.
If I don't see you no more in this world, I'll meet you on the next one.

These 3 places seem like a good start Lemming. bedge, gets in around 7:30 on the 17th. His first stop will be at Siberie, so maybe we could meet him there, have a couple of sessions with him, then head over to CoffeeshopAmsterdam and check it out.

One vote for CoffeeshopAmsterdam Café then.
We should be in around the same time, although there is always lots of potential for holdups along the way.
What does everyone else think?

We're to the south, by the Heineken brewery and the pancake carrousel.Trad wrote: Sat 22nd Feb 2025 06:55 amWe are staying equal distance between Hashtag and Terps Army 2, on Prinsengracht.

Yes to the boat! Also happy to captain a boat if we'd like to do a self drive tour www.mokumboot.nl
I'm staying directly across from Bagheera this year!

I'm more than happy to chip in some euros to rent a boat.jollylittlehun wrote: Sun 23rd Feb 2025 09:21 amYes to the boat! Also happy to captain a boat if we'd like to do a self drive tour www.mokumboot.nl

@jollylittlehun, well we know what coffeeshop you'll be in for your daily wake & bake.

Just found a place that does bigger boats. https://ecoboatsamsterdam.com/en/self-d ... amsterdam/ And it's cheaper. Could also swing by The Plug Westerdok on our way to/from the boat?AzLaker wrote: Sun 23rd Feb 2025 04:17 pmI'm more than happy to chip in some euros to rent a boat.jollylittlehun wrote: Sun 23rd Feb 2025 09:21 amYes to the boat! I'm staying directly across from Bagheera this year!It would be more inclusive, plus with jlh at the helm, we could cruise at own pace and go off the beaten canal.

We are in for a boat ride. I looked at the boats and my only concern is if the weather is shit like last year.
I have a small patio at our apartment that is ideal for our wake and bake. Even in our jammies.

Everybody is spread around town at different locations for their digs this year so maybe not as many breakfast meets with the Wake 'n' bake thrown in for good measure for me this year. I will still be up and out fairly early and after some food you will find me in one of these Coffeeshops Siberia, Het Gelderse, Bagheera's or Solo
As to smoke/bars I am happy to venture to any of the 3 above and agree with @AzLaker about greeting @Bedge into town on the 17th, I think CoffeeshopAmsterdam Cafe may be a busy one just because of its location up the top of town and the Red Light being a no go for us but as were up that end it would be rude not to have a look and if not we could go to another location from there. Defo up for checking Havelaar out after the good recommendations from a few people on here
and the cost is not to expensive split between us
The Buddha Lounge Boat on last years 420 was a good trip I thought
and with the free drinks included and heated seats and a toilet on board all in the ticket price I would be up for doing that again but at a much later sailing time
and not on a packed out day so we are not in a rush.
Is anybody interested in ordering any edibles this year
I haven't decided on if I am going to get any but if a few people did want something then I would put an order in and get something for myself - let me know on that

As for a boat trip this year, I am up for it and like the idea of renting our own boat out as long as it is a covered boatAzLaker wrote: Sun 23rd Feb 2025 04:17 pmI'm more than happy to chip in some euros to rent a boat.jollylittlehun wrote: Sun 23rd Feb 2025 09:21 amYes to the boat! I think all the self drive boats are open. Maybe wait a while until we have a weather report?Ghost wrote: Sun 23rd Feb 2025 08:37 pm Everybody is spread around town at different locations for their digs this year so maybe not as many breakfast meets with the Wake 'n' bake thrown in for good measure for me this year. Re: The Annual Four-Twenty Gathering - 20th April 2025
Starting in Siberie sounds good and CoffeeshopAmsterdam Café is very convenient for a second stop. I remember we popped our heads in there late one night a year or two ago but finished up in Wonder Bar. I can't remember why but it might have been because CoffeeshopAmsterdam Café was full.
I'm quite keen to check out Cafe Havelaar at some point. Maybe we can move down there after CoffeeshopAmsterdam Café or instead of if we find it's too busy. If we have tram passes and can't be bothered to walk, we could catch a tram from Nieuwezijds Kolk to Spui.
We've talked about self-drive boats many times over the years but never actually done it. It would certainly make a change after so many trips on cruise boats. Buddha Boat was also very nice. Be even better if we could hire the whole boat.
I think the most important thing we can do is to organise some proper brilliant 420 weather like we've had so many times in the past. If everyone makes appropriate offerings to their gods, maybe we can summon up some wall-to-wall sunshine as is traditional.
Talking of boats, I'd quite like to go for a play on the free ferries again. Maybe across to NDSM for Funny People 2 and then to Plug Westerdok.
