Totally agree. Not been here for a few years but when I did go I found the weed average and expensive, and the food expensive but worse than average. Staff a bit surly too and the novelty of a breakfast/spliff combo wears off very quickly. Really can't see the attraction to this place these days.courtjester wrote:If you're really Jonesing for a hashbrown cake and a cold pig slab, may I suggest the Egg McMuffin combo at McDonald's instead? Oh, and the scrambled eggs are boiled, then scrambled. Fortunately, marijuana inhibits the gag reflex.
The Willie Nelson, at E12 a gram, or some such outrageous price, was average, which is more than can be said of the breakfast or atmosphere.
We have a friend tagging along with us for 4-20, and if he insists on Barney's as a place he wants to visit, we'll suck it up and go. But if he doesn't bring it up, I'll never cast a shadow on the place again.

It does not seem that there is any place that evokes stronger feelings than Barney's. I myself, have a loathe-hate relationship with the place; I always go there once, and almost always find the service and food an outrage, and the weed mediocre. The new 'Barney's Uptown' feels sterile and commercial. I don't have too much to say about the old Barney's, now my favorite with its classic psychedelics and multiple volcanoes. The budtenders vary from languor to torpor to stupor. The bud can be OK, despite many allegations that it is shaken.
The food and service are the real issues with this place. How many ways can you fuck up eggs, toast or bacon? Let me count the ways . . . Gordon Ramsay should give Derry (the owner) an earful of expletives for the shit they serve. The service varies from the occasional acceptable, to the women staff who act like they are in a window at the RLD. I particularly love the occasional rules that some pinhead comes up with: "no smoking hash in pipes", "no smoke without a Barney's label" or "the kitchen is closed. Fuck off." Especially charming is Derry psychotically bitching out a waitress (who probably deserves it).
Order breakfast with a Bloody Mary while you smoke a spliff; order two coffees when you get the chance as the service is so poor you will be sorry if you don't.
Not to be missed.Three stars.

G13=shit
On the first day I got to Amsterdam, I went straight to Barney to buy a gram of the famous "G13 haze". I thought that it would be worth the price, since it gained the Cannabis Cup but I was very very disappointed. The weed was regular, nothing special, and the high was very weak. What a waste of money... The worst weed I bought in this journey to the Netherlands, ironically.

my thoughts exactly on the g13 haze, had it from barneys a few month back at the end of june and found it to be a very ordinary smoke for its extraordinary price.However i also had it back in march and was quite impressed with it but altogether i'd say its definately not worth 14e a gram you can find alot better for alot cheaper elsewhere.
