September stop-over in Amsterdam (PT2)

Post by Rez »

OK… here goes, a week on and the memories are fading, I must point out that previous and forthcoming time quotes must be taken as guestimates and not written in stone.

… Just after 9pm Fridays 1st September, we head out for a wander round the RLD.

We leave the Rho, turn left and stop in Nes for a pint and a pipe… I’m aiming to finish off the Hash Plant Haze (Nes) and the Sour Diesel (Basjoe) before making another weed purchase…

We head into the ‘Dam night darkness for some fun…

Not having a target we head to the RLD for a wander and some window shopping, the vibe never ceases to amaze me. The place has a pulse; it’s alive and kicking with ppl from all over the globe wandering around gazing surprisingly at the women putting themselves up for sale. Part of me thinks it’s a sad scenario but hey, this is what’s happening in our world, it’s “safe”, clean and regulated…such is life.

The old boys have stumbled into a “pretty young girl in her underwear shopping centre”… eyes left, eyes right… for me walking behind them it was like watching two tennis spectators… lol.

I’ve seen it and done it but I never tire of this essential part of the ‘Dam thing, but… I’m nearing the point where a smoke is my desire…

Wandering we decide on trying to find a Coffeeshop that also sells beers/spirits… De Kuil!

I see street after street, they’re all beginning to look the same and I’ve seen La Canna 3 times now, we can’t be far off… I’m attracted to the munch being sold from a tasty looking shop but I’m not ready for a feed…

STOP!! … Eyes left = munch shop, eyes right = De Kuil. We enter and man, I am pleased.

This was my first visit to De Kuil and I am very impressed, a cool bar with a nice feel, high seats and tables make it easy to plot my ass down for a warming Latte coffee. Two Vodka’s with coke for the seniors and I see the weed menu… I still have a small amount of the HPH and the SD from earlier but I can’t turn down the call of the Neville’s Haze @ 11€ / g… I also buy a pre-rolled Haze mixed joint for Dad.

We sit, chat, smoke, chat, giggle and enjoy our time in De Kuil… I want to be there now, I am… virtually *wink*…

I’m sure we are nearing midnight so decide to head toward Nes for a nightcap… we have walk for what seems to be an eternity but it was all well worth it.

Back at Nes and another bowl of the NH we watch the “expert” pool player… this dude broke each time, his opponent had a visit to the table (and usually didn’t pot a ball)… breaker boy came to the table for his 2nd visit and cleaned up every freaking time… thus another reason for my “no-show” on the Nes Café pool-cam… The place was rocking as it was the owner’s birthday… friendly ppl everywhere… I felt at home.

We slope off and stagger to the Rho… I collapse on my bed (fully clothed)… roll onto my back, plug in my headphones and kick back with some mellow mp3’s on my mobile phone… time check: 1.10am

Waking at around 3.30am with a pain in my back I find my earphones wrapped around my neck and my mobile nearly flat… I’ve done 20 or so tracks and don’t remember the end of track#1 *shock*… undress and attempt to find my phone charger… imagine my foolish try at plugging my UK phone charger into the EU wall socket… I nearly woke the others to tell them it didn’t fit… I’ll deal with that in the morning… nearly 3.45am wonderland here I come!
