My planned coffeeshop stops

Post by Oregon Kind »

Hey everyone!

I'm heading to Europe at the end of this month and will only have one full day to spend in Amsterdam. We are arriving on the early evening of the 30th, then we have all day and night of the 31st, then we leave around noon on Aug. 1st.

My planned coffeshop stops include:

Barney's
Gray Area
Amnesia
Tweede Kamer
Dutch Flowers
Rokerij
Dampkring
Paradox (right around the corner from out hotel in the Jordaan)

Smart shops:

Conscious Dreams
Chills and Thrills
Magic Mushroom Gallery

From what I have read and heard, these are good choices.

But I was wondering if there are any places that have top quality product for really cheap, non tourist prices.

I know some of the places I have listed are considered to be higher priced and very busy, especially in the middle of summer.

I was also wondering if there is any place to come across any LSD (liquid preferably), or do I have to settle for the fungi and castus varieties of hallucinogens.

Maybe there is a special phrase or word to say (to score the LSD) at some of the smart shops in town?

Any advise from Amsterdam locals would be much appreciated.

Some good shops shortlisted there, may I add if you are in or near Barney's that a trip to Pink Floyd should not be missed - even for just a coffee and a smoke of their beloved 7 seconds weed (a strain I have never gone wrong with).

Also if you were going to try and score different weeds, then you may already know that Tweede Kamer and Dampkring have the same menu if you wanted to try other shops - but if you wanted to try different atmospheres in the shops, then these are at opposite ends, so a trip to both would be worth it!

Have fun on your trip and if you stroll the RLD at any time, don't be put off from there coffeeshops as there can be some little gold mines hidden around some of the streets - Warmoesstraat and Lange Niezel to be exact.

Look forward to hearing of your journey

Thanks for the tips Valo!

I have noted your advice and have taken Dampkring off my coffeeshop list. I was debating whether or not to go there as I think Tweede Kamer will be easier to deal with (fewer crowds). I will also check out Pink Floyd after breakfast at Barney's.

I have written in my notes the streets in the RLD that you mentioned as having some good coffeshops. I'll check it out.

How about LSD? Any around to to be had? And from where? Not interested in street dealers as you never know what you are getting, but thought maybe at some of the smart shops there might be a possibility of some decent stuff (under the counter of course)?

I'd suggest you have your breakfast at Pink floyds over Barneys! (Just my opinion)

Hey mate don't worry about LSD, if you go to Conscious Dreams, they will sort you out with some trippy shrooms.
If you are only there for the time you suggest, I would take the shrooms on your first evening the coloured lights are really enhanced when tripping.
Then the next day walk around stoned but not trippy (you shouldn't take mushrooms 2 days in a row) during the full day you have.

As for budget weed, you can't beat Central CS 25 euro for +/- 5grames of weed or hash depending on strain. Then buy good weeds a gram at a time from good shops

Barney's - Sweet Tooth
Gray Area - anything (be sure to ge trichomes)
Tweede Kamer - top end Hash +/- 13 euro (not isolator)
Dutch Flowers - Spirit of Amsterdam
420 - blueberry (in a bag)

Have a blast and tell us about it when u get back

Thanks again you guys for the advice.

This is my first trip to the Dam in 15 years, so it will be very interesting to see the differences. Back then grams everywhere in town were going for about 5 US dollars.

The more I hear about Barney's and Pink Floyd the more I agree with doing the Floyd for breakfast. I think I will change my itenerary.

And thanks Zunki for the advice on strains at the different coffeeshops. Big help.

I think I am feeling really confident about my very short stay in Amsterdam. I'm even thinking about extending my stay for another night, but that would mean going straight from one leg of the trip into the next.

My mom (old hippie - hung with the Grateful dead in the Haight at 710 Ashbury in 1967, took me to the original Woodstock riding in an old station wagon from Washington State all the way to Bethel, NY when I was just 3 months old, went to UCLA with and was friends with Jim Morrison of The Doors, dosed with Timothy Leary in the California desert) lives in Bavaria currently (18 years now) and her place is my home base whenever I visit Europa. We (me, my wife and kids and Mom) are heading to Venice, then Slovenia after Amsterdam, and adding a night would mean not stopping at her place in Bavaria before heading to Venice.

So we will see.

Oh, how could I forget. Right after Amsterdam me and my best friend (meeting me in Amsterdam) are heading to the Czech Republic to hook up with an old friend living in Ceske Budejovice (8 years).

THEN me, my wife and kids, and my mom are heading to Venice and Slovenia.

So adding a night to Amsterdam would mean going direstly to Czech, not Venice.

Anyway, thanks again for the advice everyone. Any more tips would be much appreciated.

Thanks to all the input from you guys I have altered my itenerary for my only full day and night in Amsterdam.

As this will be my first morning in Amsterdam in 15 years I will undoubtedly rise early and head for either Barney's or Pink Floyd for breakfast and a joint, then head to the other one for a visit. I may buy a gram at each stop.

Next I will go pick up Mom from the hotel and we walk to and visit both the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum.

Then we will head to Vodelpark and hook up with my buddie who flew over a few days before. We will hang out and have lunch there.

Then we will walk the Golden Bend and marvel at the beautiful acient homes along the canals.

Then the real fun begins as we head up to Singel Canal and hit, all in a row, Dutch Flowers, Tweede Kamer, Grey Area and Amnesia, buying and sampling lovely green and brown morsels at each establishment.

Then, for a change of pace, we will visit Chills and Thrills and Conscious Dreams for the more mind altering purchases of the day.

Then, on our way to dinner, we will walk down through the R.L.D and Lange Niezel and Warmoestraat to Dam Square.

After dinner Mom goes back to the hotel and my friend and I make a quick stop at Sensi Seeds for a purchase for a friend we will be meeting in a few days in Czech.

By then my friend will be fully stocked and ready to hit the Amsterdam nightlife at Rembrandtsplein and Leidseplein and everywhere else!

I can't wait! :D

Dont want to sound defeatest but thats a hell of a lot of things to do in 1 day and 1 night in Amsterdam, how are you going to get around the city? I'd suggest you get a 24 hour tram pass that way you'll have a bit more time to get between placesalso get a contingency (sp?) plan in case things aren't working out the way you'd planned, and finally please choose Floyd's over Barneys and go with either 7 Seconds (my favourite weed in the whole of the dam) Mothers Finest or the Sensi Star all 3 are top quality and I guarentee you wont be dissapointed with the brekkie either! Theres a food and drink menu available off their website: www.pinkfloyd.nl

Yea, I will go with Pink Floyd for breakfast and may skip Barney's all together (or do it for breakfast the next morning), and I plan on getting a 24-hour tram pass to expidite my travels from one location to another.

I know it's a pretty ambitious itenerary, but I only have one full day so I've got to try to make the most of it.

I'm also planning on visiting Paradox either the night we arrive in The Dam, or the morning of the day we are leaving.

Thanks also Boner for the tips on which strains are best at Pink Floyd. I will definately pick up some 7 seconds, and maybe Mother's finest as well if I skip Barney's.

please do not go to that places if you wanna live

rembrandsplein en leiseplein are very commercial traps

you pay way too much for beer and other drinks over there

if you wanna smoke drink and have fun in amsterdam

instead try vrankrijk at the spuistraat easy to recognise due to the painting on the building the beer is 1 euro over here

or try de nes cafe at the nes you may also smoke inside and they have a pooltable inside

and the minds mostly very crowded but also you may smoke here :)

P.S. if you go to the central be sure to try the triple X

A couple of years ago the first place I'd of recommended to pick up some nice weed would of been Barneys for their Sweet Tooth, it was my absolute favourite, I remember stopping in Delft for a long weekend (approx 2 years ago) and I jumped on a train and went all the way to Barneys speciffically for some Sweet Tooth but IMO the weed has gone downhill in quality recently, Amnesia probaly does the best weed in Amsterdam followed by Pink Floyds and then Grey Area (although I picked up some Grey Berry in Feb of this year and it was only average!)

I'll be in Amsterdam in 3 weeks time, stoned guaranteed :D

Ive been looking at various coffeeshops on the net, ones ive visited before, ones my friends have been too, and know a good run down of places to go.

Old Church - The Blueberry there is something not to be missed

Greenhouse Effect - Where im staying, great cotch area at the back, does some nice smoke too (Isolator yum). Free bongs n vapourizers (volcano) to use.

Grey Area - VERY small shop, but some awesome smoke there! Should NOT be missed. A MUST VISIT

Pink Floyd - A favourite band of mine, so fittingly, the shop is too.

Once again thank you all for the great tips!

I will definately try out the nightlife in the Spui area and I will stay away from Rembrandtplein and Leidesplein, thanks for the info. I just read somewhere that those were happening night spots, but I would definately rather hang with the locals rather that some touristy area.

This new forum is a goldmine of information, you guys are great. Thanks again.
