Date Of Holiday: Tuesday August 23 to Friday August 26 2005
Means Of Transport: Taxi to East Midlands Airport, Plane to Schipol Airport(bmi baby), Train to Central Station
Coffeeshops Visited: Greenhouse Effect, Sheeba, Route 66, Central (no Future this time
High Points Of Holiday: 1. The hotel room was beautiful. Excellently decorated, very clean & a comfortable bed (though I'm glad I didn't have to sleep in one of the bunks!) Superb view of Warmostraat from our window, too, we were right above the GHE bar
2. The inclusive breakfast at the GHE bar was fantastic. Delicious croissants, plenty of fruit juice, & enough tea & coffee to sink the Titanic. I must also say how helpful the GHE staff were aswell, letting us not only store our bags in a cupboard as soon as we arrived because our room wasn't quite ready, but also on our last day they let us store our bags again until we were ready to get the train back to Schipol, even tho` we'd already checked out of our room, hence we were able to go on one last walk without carrying our bags around with us
3. The weather was very nice throughout the week. The only times I recalled it pissing it down with rain we were tucked up safe & sound getting wasted in our room!
4. P.G.C Hajenius on Rokin is a place I wish I'd discovered when I first came to A'Dam. It's like a cigar conniseurs shop but set out like a museum, & you can go in & buy a big cigar for just 90 cents, then go into their lounge, sit on one of their comfy leather chairs & smoke your cigar while a suited bloke brings you a free cup of coffee! A lovely change of pace; much as I love the coffeeshops, the chairs aren't very comfy & the music can be too loud sometimes, so to go somewhere quiet & relaxing for an inexpensive smoke (albeit of the non-weed variety) really made my day & was one of my personal highlights of the trip
5. Much to my surprise I even enjoyed the canal boat trip that Chloe persuaded Tom & I to go on. It was nice to sail around the Dam's waters for 45 minutes without a care in the world, although maybe I would have found it rather more dull if I wasn't stoned throughout the trip...
6. How can I not mention the weed itself? We had some top-notch smokes: Greenhouse Special, Biohaze, AK-47 & Triple X to name just a few. The Biohaze in particular knocked my socks off at one point, what a smoke!
Low Points Of Holiday: 1. It was a bit annoying to walk to Central, only for the guy at the counter to refuse us service because Tom hadn't brought his passport (he's 28, but people must think he looks about 16). But to be fair, after we went back the 2nd time with all required documentation, the chap serving was very pleasant & gave us some free drinks to compensate for the inconvinience. So hardly much of a low point at all, really, esp. given that they have a brilliant deal on ready-rolleds at Central: 3 euros each or 5 for 12 euros, which I don't think can be beaten anywhere. The shop itself is a bit small for my liking, but I do like to visit at least one new shop each time I go to Ver Dam, so I'm pleased about that
Here's the link to see some of the photos we took whilst on what turned out to be the best A'Dam trip so far...

PS: I've decided going there on the plane is much better than going on the ferry. Only 45 minutes from East Midlands to Schipol, & the trains to Central Station are dead fast & comfortable!
