Three Days in the DAM

Post by NIZZLE »

Easy now everyone

Just got back from the august bank holiday weekend in the dam!!! and what a time i had.. Usually i spend all my time in centrum getting wrecked around my favorite coffee shops.(barneys/home grown/grey area/greenhouse/dampkrink/2e kamer etc etc) However this time(my 12th time to the dam) I tried to do everything in an off key european vibe! and only do the more outta the way stuff.
So the first day comprised of heading out to the bluebird for a chilled morning toke (nevilles haze and something else from the white family but cant remember) a fruit juice and a toasty. Very pleasant service from the people behind the bars much better than usual!!. On leaving we headed towards the Albert Cuypstraat Market i really recomend going (monday- saturday) as they have the biggest selection of EVERYTHING especially munchys haha i started with a cone of chips mayo and mustard but had soon moved onto a MASSIVE fresh gooey stroop waffle (amazing) at this point i needed a spliff and guess where we were... right outside Katsu perfect! i bought a gram of there most expensive bubble hash. it came out of the fridge and was sandwiched between two thin bits of plastic. I rolled a pure hash joint followed by some of the previous bud and was WRECKED!! We left katsu after chilling for a while and headed back through the museum plein to our surprise there was a massive open air concert going on with 4-5 stages i sat on the grass rolled up again and enjoyed a bit of live jazz in the afternoon! That evening we went to bushdoctor off the Rembrandt plein. went in and noticed they had Real G13 Mr Nice crossed with hash plant...(i really wanna smoke pure hashplant have you seen the pictures at sensi seeds...SICK) anyway was really excited to start but didnt think that much of it after id fired it up! the best bit about the docs was the fact the dealer wouldn't roll up for a Polish woman who had bought some hash but had no idea what to do with it! using the internaionally recognised sign for 'I'll skin up for you' i rolled her a nice joint only to sit outside a bit later finding here rolling around in laughter... her husband told me that was a very profesional spliff thank you and good night as he held her up on the way back to the hotel. haha We then ventured out to the Noon a wicked coffee shop and one i should have been to b4. the padded seats ran all the way around the shop and there were so many cushions i ended up almost laying down. At the counter the dealer showed me his selection desert bud looked evil but when i smelt the blueberry that was that i had 2 grams and he did it for 11euro!!!! double cheap double fruity what more could i ask for... how about die hard the movie on the flat screens and everyone in the shop watching it mixed in with some jokes and laughter. thats what we got and nobody asking us to free up the table.. we chilled for HOURS!!
Getting back to the hotel i was amazed to find the roof top terrace open all night by mistake!! hahahah we smoked up out there till like 4 in the morning hahah.
The next day i wanted to be more off key than the previous so we got up and headed for central station buying return tickets to Haarlem we set off in the seriously good weather. straight out the station and into willie wortels sativa!! we got a gram of Amnesia Haze and got blazed! a very chilled shop friendly dealers good seats and drinks a bit small but i new we were heading to sinsemillia later in the day. (ive had the amnesia b4 from barneys etc but this was another level REALLY HIGH) leaving sativa we headed into the main square now GET ICE CREAM FROM THE SHOP BEHIND THE CATHEDRAL especially Macadamia flavour mmmmmmmm.
Popped into the Thee huis an old school hippy shop with multiple flavours very cool but stupidly didnt buy anything cause of the mini que at the bar.
So on to Sinsemillia this is how all coffee shops should be!! Masses of room 2 pool tables, table football internet computers seriously comfortable seating, open air balcony with seating for 40!! etc etc. We stayed most of the day and bought everything off their menu... my favorites. marrokanese skuff and New York Diesel a gram of each mixed into two spliffs WRECKED again and i got some amazing close ups of the buds! Once again very friendly helpful staff and a coffee shop i would recommend again and again if you can be bothered making the trip!!
Back into the Dam firstly food then off to Amnesia.. another cool shop thats very chilled if you can get a seat!! When there menus up to full strength its on a level with 2e kamer/dampkring but i keep going and there top buds are not for sale mk ultra etc!! However they did have Sour Diesel a quality taste it really was like sour sweets. We got a few more delights off there menu and chilled all evening again with loads of fresh coffees!!! the last day was only a short one so we quickly did Homegrown fantasy ( one of my long time favorites) and barneys to hit up the silver blue and some CHRONIC marocan hash cant remeber the name but it was 16 euro a g.... anyway flight home then to my pad enjoying: king hussan extreme from greenhouse some of that bubble hash from katsu nepalese cream from Rusland Marokanese Skuff from Willie Wortels. (i cant get good hash over here but my buds are Amazing got back to some Pot of Gold smells like the sweetest liquorish.... :)

Great post Nizzle, sounds like you did it up right. Question, have any problems finding your way around A'Dam? This will be my first time, and I have at least 20 shops I want to visit. From Barney's all the way down to Katsu. Thanks, AzLaker 8)

nice write up nizzle, sounds like an awesome time!

Laker, you will be fine man, the maps make it look much more difficult than it really is. Just keep at least one map with you at all times and you will be golden...ohh and the trams are amazing and super easy to figure out.

Azlaker: Maybe you already know about about this, but a great downloadable Amsterdam centrum map with the best coffeeshops marked is at www.coffeeshopdirect.com ...The tram system is well worth figuring out as it lets you see so much more and not waste so much time walking down the same streets over and over. The uurskaart, a 24, 48, or 72 hour transportation pass, lets you ride the trams, (night)buses, and the metro to any destination in Amsterdam 24 hours a day and all you have to do is to flash it at the conductor. On non conductor trams it just stays in your pocket unless the fare police show up. You can buy the passes at the white, red tile roofed building across the tram tracks out in front of Centraal Station. They are around EUR 5 per each 24 hour period.

Hey Azlaker and Mazdogg

Cheers guys yeah it was one of my best trips ever!! cant wait to get back there! Azlaker, mazdogg's totally right you gotta keep a map with you at all times on your first trip as Larry says the one on the main ACD is a DAM good start i personally stay away from most of the red light district coffee shops and enjoy the slightly more refined versions on the other side of the city... A good first day would be something like: Barneys for breakfast then onto Anyday, then Homegrown Fantasy, Amnesia, Grey Area, Dutch Flowers, Dampkrink, then out to Noon... You'll find all of them on the ACD map and if you make it to all i bet you have a fantastic day! i also have another map which shows a much greater extent of the city with all the shops even out to Kashmir lounge Green House Tolstraat and Katsu.. i found that on the net ill see if i can post it up on here as well. finally if you wanna go to Haarlem willie wortels website has a very detailed map on it www.hempcity.net . ENJOY YOUR TRIP DUDE!!

Thanks guys for all the info. I got a small pocket map of A'Dam, plus I've already printed a map from this site of all the coffeeshops. Wrote down 20 or more shops that people highly recomend and go from there. I've got alot of places to see, but someone said it best, if you can see 1/2 of that you won't be disappointed. I must hit the RLD just to see what's it all about, hit a coffee shop and move on. 26 days to go. Thanks again everyone. AzLaker 8)
