In De Waag

Post by Nonesuch »

My favorite restaurant from my trip last year was "In De Waag". this has to be the best restaurant in the RLD, and they stay open late! (closes after midnight!)

On Nieuwmarkt, the restaurant itself is built into the old city gatehouse, serves "continental" cuisine along with some dutch dishes, and at night the primary lighting comes from huge candelabras with hundreds of candles.

They take reservations, but our small group walked in around 9PM (after failing to find a bar or cafe where the kitchen was still open) and were seated immediately.

Nice, isn't it? Pleasing ambience. I didn't get down there this trip, but had a glass of bubbly in the summer, and kept meaning to go back for lunch or dinner.

I love the medieval castle feel to it, whilst keeping it looking classy and modern.
