95% of Amsterdams weed is pollinated
To keep up with demands for ice hash coffee shops use a pollinator to remove mature resin glands and heads. This leaves the weed looking white but if you look close does not glint, and sometimes can be easily seen with the naked eye.
They dry the weed and tumble it for 3-10 mins and collect the resin glands. They then either dry press it like that Arjans dry seived at the green house. Or they add it to the final three bubble bags to clean the kif so it looks clean and sell it as Ice hash which is what it would be.
Next time you buy some weed in Amsterdam look close..break a bit off and look inside and you will see how different it looks.
I also think that the dutch growers are not picking the most potent plants and this could be for a few reasons
They want us to smoke more
They dont want tourists to be as stoned (preasure from the Nl gov)
The growers are too commercial and can not tend to their plants well enough?
Weed in the Uk gets better and the weed in Amsterdam get worse..

not true
If weed was weed and hash is hash....why the hell did I run around the dam trying to find some quality.
Out of all 400 of them you might as well only visit 10-20 for your weed, all the rest just try to sell you the worst commercial crap.
I don't smoke crap gear here in the Uk so why should I do it in Amsterdam.....the smell of weed/hash smoke in the bulldog made me feel sick it was that full of contaminantes. Every few mths I get my choice of Mango haze, Jack flash/herer and a few other mixed strains which are all grown very well and are very potent.
We just can't get any decent pollen in the uk....come on someone take my heros example and import 30 tons like howard marks...then we could all chuff some trics.

I think this is a reflection of the world, not just the cannabusiness. How many pubs in the UK sell decent beer rather than mass-produced lager from a chemical works? Would you really make food from the ingredients used by supermarkets?
I probably smoked some of the hash that Howard Marks imported. In those days we had batches of black hash from Pakistan, Red Lebanese and real Moroccan. None of these reach the UK now. The only widely available “hash” these days is soapbar and other rubbish. Like the processed food from supermarkets, it is very cheap though. Hash prices are about half what they were 20 years ago, despite inflation.
Homegrown grass in the UK has improved hugely since the time of Howard Marks. Back then it was much cheaper than hash but, having been grown outdoors from inappropriate seeds, it didn’t flower and was very poor quality. Nowadays we have good grass that can compete with much of that found in the Netherlands.
The scene in the Netherlands is far from perfect. Although the coffeeshops are semi-legal, importing and commercial growing of cannabis is still illegal. The people doing this are, by definition, criminals. This leads to some very dodgy stuff going on behind the scenes.
Nevertheless, you are very unlikely to have your UK dealer offer you a choice of various different indicas, sativas, genuine Moroccans and Nepalese. That is what the Netherlands still has to offer.

That does not answer to my points?
Why does the Grey area, Barneys, Greenhouse and other so called top coffee shops feel the need to tumble the weed they sell?
In the north west due to the quality of info in our growshops many people grow far better weed than in the dam..recently I have had Kali mist, Nyc, hog and citral...not bad eh! All of them got me far more stoned than anything I smoked over in NL

the dutch "tourist" weed growers are running their business like any other modern company...fatter profit margin at all cost!! if that means tumbling buds will increase their overall profit margin then that is the bottom line.....if people didn't buy tumbled weed them it wouldn't be worthwhile for them to tumble it....but their will always be a market for tumbled or untumbled herb.
Simple capitalism at its best.
Doesn't make it right but what do you expect, like i said earlier everybodys wants to get paid...look at it from thier businessman perspective.
Not really that hard to find better herb....it is signifcantly harder dare i say impossible to find a better overall setting. Beautiful city, wonderful people, no dracion police...and a wide variety of some of the greatest tumbled weed in the world.
I get stuff here in the desert all the time that is just as good or better than anything i had in a-dam.......and as i sit and smoke it i have to acknowledge the fact that the police could kick in my door any second....not such a setting.

OK, I was stoned alright? That does not answer to my points?
Well, greed, obviously. It’s good that you highlight the issue. If the practice is as widespread as you suggest then this is the place to shout about it. If we all start carrying magnifying glasses and making a fuss about it then things will change. Some close-up pictures of tumbled and untumbled buds would help a lot if anyone has any.Why does the Grey area, Barneys, Greenhouse and other so called top coffee shops feel the need to tumble the weed they sell?
Not bad at all! You’re very lucky. I think the experience for most in the UK is a choice between crap “hash” or anonymous “Skunk”. Nice Sativas are rarely grown commercially so we only get those when an enthusiast grows a small crop. Many in the UK will never experience these without visiting A’dam. In the north west due to the quality of info in our growshops many people grow far better weed than in the dam..recently I have had Kali mist, Nyc, hog and citral...not bad eh! Glad to hear the scene is so good up there in the north west. Shame you haven’t got any coffeeshops where we can all come to sample the wares (what ever happened to Colin Davies by the way?). Hopefully one day it will be possible, though. It’d be nice to hangout in Manchester or maybe a coastal town like Blackpool. …I’m waffling again… Enough
Look forward to some more of your growing tips in the Growshops and Seeds section.
