My friend and I stumbled across this place on our first day which also happened to be our first time in the Dam. Staff were extremely friendly, the green was boom and it was 12 E for about 2g, you can't go wrong there. I remember the Orange Bud from my 1st visit man it was real tasty and too potent! I started talking to the bud maid Onja in the day and the owner's nephew Jopie in the evenings. They both were great and gave me loads of info on dam. I then went back in Jan 07 and end of Feb only for 2 days and my 1st place of call was 99. I didn't think they would remember me as they see so many different tourists everyday but they did! It was all about the White Widow and Crystal for me. My last trip in Jan 08 has to be the best so far. We would start and 99 in the morning for breakfast and end up there in the evening until they close. I toked a full bag of Jack Herer every night there, which has to be one of their best strains. I become really good friends with all of them and the "boss" kept giving me free Maroc hash every night and free drinks! He is too kind. Onja and Jopie really looked after me and my friend Paul (it was his 1st time) I can't thank them enough. I had to buy them all a gift before I left to show my appreciation; they even gave me free t-shirts! I kept in touch with them since I got back home, and can't wait to get back there! This is the best place to be in the Dam. Thanks so much Route 99!

I liked this place. Nice menu and a nice place to chill. Sat upstairs for a joint or two and drank some tea. Was a nice looking place and staff seem friendly.

We called in at Route 99 as we were going past as I remembered it had pool tables down below. We walked in and asked for our drinks, the barmaid was very nice and even freshly squeezed some O.J for us and we also got some space cake which was nice and hit home about an hour later, we had 3 games of pool and the tables were very fast as the surface was like plastic, but it did the job, didn't buy any weed though, overall a nice place.

Stopped in here one night, bought a gram of AK-47 (10€ish) and stuck a third of it in a bong. Was blitzed for the next 3 hours. The interior seemed nice, though I must confess I remember little other than buying my weed and smoking it.

Wow, fuck this place. The inside is pretty cool I guess, no one inside looked friendly tho. Staff was okay. Got the Bubble Gum (not cheap buds) and they sucked for the price. It wasn't Blueberry I can tell you that as well too. The place isn't horrible or anything, I just wont go again, I don't see why everyone else thinks its soo great!

This was the first coffeeshop me and my friends found on the way from Centraal Station, pretty nice smoke they have in there and the staff were more than pleased to explain various bits of cannabis etiquette to us. Had an ace time monging out in the boot-of-a-car-turned-couch thing. We came to this place on our first trip to the 'Dam, and it shall be the first port of call when I return soon.

This has become a favourite with my girlfriend and I. The first time we went to Amsterdam we stumbled into the first coffeeshop we found after getting off the train, and it just happened to be Route 99. We have now been to Dam three times and it is always the first coffeeshop we visit before checking in to a hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful, there is a decent range of good weed and hash at reasonable prices and most importantly comfy seats! The atmosphere is very chilled and there is a large fluorescent mural at the back of the top level which can be pretty trippy after a few joints! We're going back to Amsterdam in November, and guess where we're heading first!

Very nice setting & surroundings. The service is excellent & the menu is fairly extensive. We sampled just about every herb & hash there & were very impressed by the taste, smells & highs. They also have pool tables that we used frequently. It was right behind our hotel (The Victoria Hotel) & next to Prix d'Ami. All out a great coffeeshop to buy herb/hash & to relax & indulge.

Talked to the lady working; very friendly staff. Asked for the menu and I grabbed 2 grams of Jack Herer. This strain was sooo strong!, way better than anything I got from the Bulldog, this stuff was the real deal, and I also bought a few space cakes, which got me so ridiculously high. Before I left, I made sure I tipped her, and told her thanks. I didn't want to come off as a asshole westerner. So I did my best to be polite as I could.

Nice glow in the dark paintings on the back wall of famous dead actors and musicians. Jack Herer was a great smoke. Very chill atmosphere.

This place was ideally situated for us as it is directly behind the Victoria Hotel where we were staying. It is a smallish place on the main level with three pool tables downstairs. We bought 3 lots of grass over 3 days, AK 47, 1.8 grams for 12 euros. I never buy grass at home so I don't know if this was expensive. It was extremely strong smelling and we sniffed the bag more than once. :@) It was a strong trippy smoke which made me giggle a lot. Overall a nice high and it definitely had some aphrodisiac effects on my wife and I! The second lot was called James Herra, I think, same price but disappointing as we both found it mild. They said it was their strongest - not! I wouldn't recommend it. The 3rd lot was Bubblegum, 12 euros for 2.2 grams. It wasn't bad but wasn't a patch on the AK47. It's a nice place with a regular turnover of people. The coffee was good, 2 coffee with milk was 3 euros. The music is decent, mostly middle of the road stuff but with the odd good tune aswell. There are 3 televisions which all showed different programs including 2 music channels. They just did my head in as I kept trying to match the programmes to the music and they never fitted, told you it was a trippy smoke :@) Overall a nice friendly place which we used a lot.

It is located very close to Central Station in an area that seems to be very safe. Went there 4-5 times over a three day period the dealer was very helpful and friendly didn't mind us smoking our own (we always bought at least a drink on entering 0). Some prices seemed a bit high but well worth it make sure if you buy pre-rolled joints u get an all weed one the mix seems to be mostly tobacco. The bathroom was very clean and the pool tables were quite cheap. 8/10

Our 3rd visit to Dam, came upon this coffee just off Damrak not too far from central Station. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. She admitted that the weed that she sells is too strong even for her to smoke. We decided to try the 'Bubblegum' as recommended by her as being one of the most potent. And it really was! We like this coffee shop so much that we decided to make it our 1st stop and our last stop before returning to the UK. Look out for the groovy U.V lighting at the back of the coffee shop. Candlelit tables and groovy artwork of famous legends Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Bob Marley etc. To sum this place up it is definitely a place to chill out with a good menu & fair prices! Will definitely be returning here time & time again, us Brit girls love it!

It is a nice shop with nice atmosphere. It was our first shop at our 1-day-trip in Amsterdam. We thought we will start our session here with some "AK47" (12,5 Euro - 1,8 gr.) and then we will taste some more expensive weed. Bought, rolled and smoked the spliff. The "real" high came about 3-4 minutes later. We were here for about 40 minutes after having one joint. Wonderful ganja.

I really liked this place. It was the only coffee shop I frequented. The staff were really friendly. The atmosphere is relaxed and comforting. I only got a ready rolled joint (okay nothing special but good), then I went onto the space cakes, which are excellent. Everytime I went back there I got one. Then when the sad day came and I had to go home I ate 4 at once and was trippin like mad on the plane. Really enjoyable place, when I was there though there was no internet access. Overall I found it an excellent place to chill out.

Bought a bag of Bubblegum and maybe due to tiredness (maybe) we were assaulted in a rude manner. This weed hit us hard and fast and the guy at the bar was relaxed and cool. If the Bubblegum is this good all the time then it will definitely be on the itinerary for any forthcoming trips too.

We stumbled into the Route 99 after a nasty ferry crossing from Newcastle. We were travelling to the Dam in a group of 10, we were about to kill each other until we came upon the Route 99 Coffeeshop, tucked away in a backwater just off from the Nieuwendijk. Route 99 has traditional "brown bar" wooden seating in dark surroundings. At the end of the shop there is a fantastic neon mural, quite trippy after my first pre-rolled since landing in the Dam. My partner and I arrived in Route 99 about 20 minutes after my friends. One naive friend, SHOUT OUT TO SAM!!!!!!!!, thought he was "the man" and decided to order a pre-roll and blast it off in one. The rest of his Holiday he was taunted with people applying a Dutch female accent and exclaiming "Your friend is passing out". The Coffeebar has three pool tables downstairs and Internet Access upstairs. Internet access is 50c for 5 minutes. Can't remember what the pool costs. Doesn't do much in the way of munchies, they sell space cake, 3.50 euros a piece and have an average selection of weed. Fair prices, not amazing but not over expensive. On two levels, upstairs being a dark, trippy place to smoke, downstairs fluorescent lighting combined with a room wide mirror really does nothing for the paranoia, buy Hey! it all adds to the experience. A nice place to start your tour through the long and winding roads of the Dam. Five minutes from the Centraal Station and the Damrak, Route 99 is an ideal start or finish to any coffeeshop tour.

The decor is nice, lots of room, and has tables for larger groups. I sat at the bar and visited with this fine babe, who seem to put up with me, and my repeated jokes about coming back to the United States. After a cup, I met up with 9 Palestinian fellows who seem to laugh every time I said that damn Bush, and who all introduced themselves to me, they were very polite, cordial, and happy to meet a real American, it was enjoyable experience, as I bid farewell I shook hands with each one of them, thinking to myself this is the way we should be towards our Arab brothers.
